This
is a beautiful section of trail, offering fine views off prominent
lookouts and interesting geologic features. The view over
Middlebrook valley is spectacular--local landowners have worked with
the Upper Valley Land Trust to preserve the agricultural heritage of
this area.
Park
on Middlebrook Road (1.2 miles from Route 244) across from a large
white farmhouse. Walk on the farm lane on the corn fields, over a
bridge over Middle Brook. Turn left, following the left edge of
the field, then bear right, continuing along the edge of the field. |

Enter
woods at the north corner of field and climb gradually.
Switchback to the left and climb steadily. At 0.6 miles,
pass a clearing on the left where the Aloha Foundation's trail enters
from the right. Reach a great vista on the left at 0.7 miles.
Continue along ridge. Another Aloha Foundation trail merges
from the right. At 1 mile, descend following blue blazes until
you reach a logging road. In 100', another logging road enters
from the right. Cross the log landing and reach King Hill Road at
1.5 miles. Turn left and follow road northwest. Turn right
at sign into driveway, crossing the outlet of the pond, and bearing
right. At 2 miles, turn sharp right leaving the ATV trail.
Turn left and ascend steeply at first. Cross boulder field
on rock treadway below ledges and continue ascending. 2.7 miles,
join logging road, then turn right off of it, continuing ascent.
Reach the ridgetop, then descend moderately. At 3.1 miles,
cross a stream and ascend again. Pass through a pine stand and
descend. Reach Marsh Hill Road at 3.4 miles, crossing it, and
bearing left. In 150', join a logging road. Follow it east,
descending to cross Blood Brook, then ascend through the field up to
Blood Brook Road at 3.8 miles.
