Know
what to expect
Prepare for a change in weather and temperature
Know the regulations for the trail
Carry enough water and food for your hike
Be ready to deal with emergencies
Stay
on the trail
Hike on established trails to reduce erosion
The RTA prohibits camping on the CRT.
Certain areas such as Southworth Park permit camping
by permission only.
Seek prior permission before camping,
or seek lodging at the various Inns and lodges near
the trail.
Pack
it in, Pack it out
Pack out all trash including food waste
Bury human waste in catholes dug 6 inches deep and cover
Leave
What You Find
Leave stone walls intact
Leave unique objects so that others may enjoy them too
Fires
The RTA prohibits fires on the Cross Rivendell Trail
Respect
Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance
Refrain from feeding wild animals
Keep your pet under control
Respect
other hikers and landowners
Limit your group size
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises
Park only where permitted
