Blood Brook Road to Summit, 1.6 miles *
* Note: original distance calculated
as 1.9 miles
West Fairlee, Fairlee VT
trail runs partly through the Fairlee Town Forest and through
land protected by the Trust for Public Land that is now part of
the Brushwood Forest, a 3-town forest including lands in Fairlee,
West Fairlee, and Bradford. The views from the summit are
excellent to the East. An excellent family hike!
along Blood Brook Road where the trail crosses the road without
blocking access to the VAST snowmobile trail.
The trail initially follows
the snowmobile trail east before turning and climbing moderately
into the woods. Later, after a series of switchbacks,
the trail enters a ravine and spectacular hardwood forest.
After a short staircase the trail then follows the
mountain's contour until it turns right and emerges from the
woods onto a snowmobile trail.
Turn right and proceed uphill to the summit.
The trail continues West from the summit, following
the blue blazes, 3.3 miles downhill to Lake Morey Road and
the boat launch.
